Stage Winches for Theatres, Auditoriums and Touring Shows
Zhonghui builds wire-rope stage winches for overhead lifting of scenery, battens, curtains and lighting. Most models wind the rope in a single layer on a grooved drum with sensors that detect slack, overlapping or skipped rope, and every model below is specified with dual brakes (each brake able to stop the load independently). Winches can run individually or in groups under an integrated control system.
Common Design Features
From Zhonghui product material.
- Neat winding: rope wound in order on a grooved drum; sensors guard against slack, overlapping or skipping rope.
- Zero fleet angle (self-spooling models): the drum or rope guide tracks the rope so it leaves at a constant point.
- Dual braking: two brake systems, each capable of stopping the load on its own.
- High safety factor: all components between the load and the brakes are designed above rated load.
- Travel control: encoder feedback (dual encoders on several models) for precise positioning.
- Optional load sensing: a payload sensor can stop the winch on overload (Titan vertical winch).
- Individual or group control. Customizable to project requirements.

Self-spooling box and vertical winches (Mercury, Gaea, Titan)
For permanent fly systems in medium and large theatres. Gaea Type II: motor, reducer, encoder, rope drum, travel and rope-arrangement detection, base and diverter pulleys; dual encoders. Titan vertical: coaxial screw and drum for speed, vertical mounting saves space, optional payload sensor stops the winch on overload.
K and F series automatic rope-arranging winches
Automatic rope arranging, 1–8 lifting points, up to 30 m travel, 200–1000 kg.
Disc (pilewind) winches — Vortex PII / PIII
Rope stacked in a disc ("pilewind") system. PII: compact, lightweight frame mount, horizontal-upright or vertical installation, suitable for touring shows. PIII: small size and high payload, for small and medium theatres, multi-function halls, lecture and banquet halls.
Single-point and double-point winches (Sky, fixed series)
Point lifting for scenery and effects. The YD320 moveable single-point winch supports any rope drop point and up to 60 m travel.
Touring / mobile winches (LD156, Acro SLD240, LDT140)
Servo-driven, lightweight, single-layer grooved drum with zero fleet angle; LDT140 uses synthetic fibre rope.
Horizontal winches (F320, FP320)
Integrated grooved-drum winding for large and medium theatres, multi-function halls and auditoriums; 1–8 lifting points.
Fire curtain damping mechanisms (ZNJ-600, ZNJ-2T)
Drive units for theatre fire/safety curtains. Main frame of heat- and smoke-resistant material; variable-frequency (ZNJ-600) or chip-based (ZNJ-2T) control for automatic and remote operation; components include ball screw, linear bearings, solenoid directional valve and stroke reversing valve.
Servo flagship: Servo Automatic Rope-Spooling Stage Winch (Mercury M268).
FAQ
Is a stage winch the same as a chain hoist?
No. These are wire-rope (or fibre-rope) winches with drums. Zhonghui does not offer chain hoists on this site.
How many lifting points can one winch drive?
Depending on the model, 1 to 8 lifting points (see the model table).
Can winches be controlled as a group?
Yes. The winches support individual or group control.
